briangreenberg.net is owned and operated by Brian J. Greenberg, a data storage architect, whole systems designer/practitioner, systems architect, software developer and trainer living in the city of Chicago. I primarily design and architect data storage systems with emphasis on data protection as well as research the application of new data storage technologies and reporting tools. I write a fair amount of software tools and applications in bash and python. My particular interests involve solving interesting problems. Especially problems that allow for the unique application of systems thinking and system dynamics modeling.  It's through my company, General System Dynamics, I'm able to apply my developments from a systems perspective to businesses by bringing new technologies, services and methodologies to increase companies capabilities to be more profitable, more efficient and more sustainable.

Everybody seems to have a web site these days, whether it be via social networking site like Facebook or MySpace or via professional networking site like LinkedIn. There are so many sites in this so-called Web 2.0 world it's dizzying and frankly, a little nauseating too.  So what did I do?  I set up yet another personal web site.

While I think there's a place for professional networking sites like LinkedIn, (I got a job because someone found me on LinkedIn) and social sites that you can keep in touch with friends like Facebook and MySpace, none of them suited my needs for my own unique place.  Each site carries its own preconceived stigmas and baggage.  I needed a site that more resembles a blog but carried a little more weight for my long term plans.

So, with that said, please keep in mind that this site is a work in progress and will self organize over time.  Here, I will provide information regarding various topics that interest me as well as topics that I'm involved with professionally.

12/2008 - Update

I'm experimenting with a blog at http://blog.briangreenberg.net.  I imagine that that site will replace this one some time in the future.  Take a peek an let me know what you think.  Remember, it's a work in progress.
